Tea Scoop Soot Bamboo | TAKAYAMA NARA
■ About Natural Variation
Because natural bamboo is used, each scoop differs in color, pattern, shading, and the position and appearance of the nodes. Some pieces may show uneven coloring, spots, or changes in color around the nodes. These come from the way bamboo grows in nature and are characteristics of the natural material, not defects.
The scoop you receive is selected by our shop, so we cannot accept requests for a particular color, pattern, or node position. For the pieces currently on sale, if you are looking for one with no color variation or markings, we ask that you refrain from purchasing.
By completing your purchase, you are considered to have accepted the above. Please note that we cannot accept returns or exchanges for the natural variations described above.
A bamboo tea scoop for scooping matcha.
Craftsmen in Takayama, Nara prefecture finished each one by hand.
There are various materials and shapes, but at YUGEN, the orthodox shape that is mainly used is a tea scoop made of bamboo.
*Because it is handmade and made from natural materials, the texture and color of each item may vary.
* When cleaning, gently wipe off the matcha with a dry cloth.
"soot bamboo"
It is a bamboo material that can be taken from the attic and ceiling of a thatched roof private house. It is characterized by its deep and beautiful natural brown color that has been smoked in the smoke of the hearth for over 100 years. With the passage of time, the number of buildings that meet the conditions has decreased, but please enjoy the rare materials.
Please note that purchases are limited to four items per person.

Uji Matcha Series
We offer four varieties, from #0 to #3. The higher the number, the finer the grade—bitterness becomes more mellow, while umami and sweetness deepen. The aroma grows richer, and the color becomes more vibrant.
