Uji Matcha #1 (Ceremonial Grade / Usucha) - YUGEN
80g: 30g (can) + 50g (silver packet)
50g, 150g, 250g, 500g: Silver packets (sold in 50g increments)
This original blend brings together a rich aroma, refined umami, and a delicate hint of astringency that gives the whole cup structure. To create a depth and complexity that cannot be achieved with a single cultivar alone, we carefully combine tea leaves with different characteristics, resulting in a layered and balanced flavor. Rather than emphasizing any one trait too strongly, each element is brought together in harmony, giving the blend a reliable sense of balance in every bowl.
Even in formal tea gatherings and practice settings, where the tea’s quality is held to a high standard, Matcha #1 expresses its character fully without overpowering the sweetness of the accompanying confection. Its smoothness on the palate, followed by a clean and graceful finish, quietly reflects the refined character of this blend. From a calm daily bowl to a formal tea setting, it can be enjoyed across a wide range of occasions.

Usucha is the most familiar style of matcha, prepared by whisking the tea with hot water using a bamboo whisk. It is called usucha, or “thin tea,” because it is made with a larger amount of water, and the expression “to whisk” is closely tied to this traditional way of preparing matcha. Easy to incorporate into daily life, usucha is also valued for how approachable and enjoyable it is.
